Thermo King Level One is a combination of two certifications that focuses on the explanation of transport refrigeration and the basic components of refrigeration. Students will understand the different types of units Thermo King services and represents. This certification will provide a valuable, stackable credential that can be easily embedded into a Diesel and/or HVAC/R curriculum. A student with a Level One certification will provide the base level skills and knowledge regarding maintenance and operation of Thermo King equipment. Students learn the scope and purpose of the transport refrigeration industry, operating modes of a Thermo King single temperature trailer unit, operation of the four main components of a refrigeration system, refrigerant flow and component interaction, refrigeration equipment and procedures, proper service procedures (refrigerant level check, low side pump down, refrigerant recovery, evacuation and charging), Thermo King SR4 Transport Refrigeration Control interface and alarm codes, and preventative maintenance procedures (batteries, trailer inspection, engine, coolant tank and lines, air intake system, belt condition).
