Project Management

Project Management is designed to introduce students to the myriad facets of Program and Project Management, test the character of each student as they juggle the complexities and conflicting demands, and initiate the development of difficult decision-making, for a successful program. Project management is one of the most critical components of a successful business. It affects revenues and liabilities, and it ultimately affects customer or client satisfaction and retention. Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques for project activities, to meet the project requirements. A company might have only one project in the program in the works at a time, while other larger corporations or entities might juggle several projects at once. By their very nature, projects are temporary. A project is temporary in that it has a defined beginning and end in time, and therefore defined scope and resources to create a unique product, service, or result. It is a specific set of operations designed to accomplish a singular goal for the program. Projects are the mechanics of “getting it done” within a program. This course provides students with an opportunity to gain insight to the path of becoming a Certified Project Manager (PM).
